Anonymous asked: Scientists have NEVER thought that ANY dinosaurs flew or swam. Dinosaurs have always been, by definition, terrestrial. Pterosaurs flew, and plesiosaurs and mosasaurs swam. None of those are dinosaurs.

The definition of “dinosaur” has nothing to really do with their terrestrial qualities (terrible lizard), but I will admit to not knowing this as a child. With movies like Jurassic Park acting as fact monuments for my childhood growing up, Pterodactyls were all the rage. 

And most of the time, all of these were lumped together by teachers and other ilk as “dinosaurs” even though they knew it “wasn’t 100%” it was “just easier”.
